Collection: Ceiling Hooks

A ceiling hook lets you hang a pendant light exactly where you want it, without moving the wiring. Fix the hook above the table, worktop or reading chair, swag the flex across from the ceiling rose, and the light drops in the right place.

Our range covers small solid brass hooks for lightweight pendants, authentic period hooks made in Birmingham to an original pattern, and heavy duty industrial hooks that hold up to 10kg. Most have a hollow centre, so the flex can pass straight through and the hook doubles as a ceiling rose. Finishes are matched to our lampholders, ceiling roses and chain, so the whole fitting looks like one piece.

Ceiling hook questions

Which ceiling hook do I need for a pendant light?

For a single pendant on fabric flex, a Small Ceiling Hook is usually enough. For glass or enamel shades, choose a Period hook (3.5kg) or an Industrial or Budget hook (10kg). For bowl shades hung on three chains, use the Three Hook Ceiling Plate.

How much weight can a ceiling hook hold?

Our hooks are rated from 3.5kg to 10kg depending on the style, and each product page gives its maximum load. The rating assumes a sound fixing, so screw into a joist or use a fixing rated for the full weight of the shade, lampholder and flex.

Can I move a ceiling light without rewiring?

Yes. Leave the ceiling rose where it is, fit a hook where you want the light to hang, and run a longer length of flex between the two. This is often called a swag or swagged pendant.

Will these hooks fit a conduit box?

The Period, Industrial, Budget and Three Hook styles have BESA hole spacing and mount directly onto standard conduit boxes. The Small hook has 34mm fixing centres and screws straight to the ceiling.
